For many years, governments in the U.S., European Union, and beyond have required companies including automakers and suppliers to report their use of “conflict minerals,” specifically tantalum, tin, tungsten, and gold. The concern is that the extraction and trade of these materials can contribute to abuse, corruption, and violence in unstable regions. Over time, industry leaders like AIAG have collaborated to help our members comply with these requirements and champion similar efforts around other high-risk materials. Our aim is a clear, comprehensive approach to responsible material sourcing.
