EV Battery Transportation & Handling

Water Security in Hands

The Issue

Electric vehicle (EV) battery manufacturers and OEMs lack an industry solution for the storage, warehousing, transportation, and performance monitoring of EV batteries. Common industry guidelines are needed to reduce duplicate efforts with multiple standards.

Our Solution

AIAG is launching a new initiative and work group to explore EV battery transportation and handling issues, including Department of Transportation (DOT) and Department of Energy (DOE) regulations, UN standards, and all modes (truck/rail/vessel) of inbound and outbound transportation.

EV Battery Transportation & Handling Work Group

Key deliverables for this AIAG work group include new Customer Specific Requirements (CSRs), standards and guidelines, industrydeveloped training, and more, in response to proposed projects focusing on:

  • Storage/warehousing/transportation (e.g., state of charge and temperature regulation).
  • Safety (e.g., handling, damaged parts, transportation, packaging, loading).
  • Finished vehicle logistics (FVL) transportation (e.g., load factor, optimization).

These companies are participating in this group:
