VDA 6.3 - Qualification as Process Auditor with Certified Examination


This 5-day training is designed for participants who want to achieve their qualification as certified VDA 6.3 process auditor in as short a time as possible. This course also includes the VDA 6.3 - Examination Day for Certified Process Auditor. The exam is an oral exam only. After passing the final exam, you will receive a VDA certificate a registered number and entry in the VDA QMC database.

Course Information

This 5-day option consists of 4 days of training and VDA 6.3 - Examination Day for Certified Process Auditor on the 5th day. This course is designed for participants who want to achieve their qualification as certified VDA 6.3 process auditor in as short a time as possible.

The four days of training provides you with the basics for performing process audits according to VDA 6.3 (2023), considering the process-oriented approach and customer specific requirements for comprehensive application in the automotive industry.

The training alternates between technical presentations, practical exercises, and case studies to support the transfer of what has been learned into your own working practice. Special emphasis is placed on opportunities to exchange experiences. On the 4th day of training, students will complete a multiple-choice knowledge test. After passing the knowledge test you will receive a VDA 6.3 (2023) Certificate of Qualification Please note that after passing the knowledge test on the 4th day you will not be a Certified VDA 6.3 Process Auditor.

To become a Certified VDA 6.3 Process Auditor you will need to successfully pass the exam provided on the 5th day. The certified process auditor exam is an oral exam. After passing the exam, you will receive a VDA certificate with a registered number and entry in the VDA QMC database.

To register for this course the applicant must submit the application form (filled out completely, with all applicable boxes checked off) with all the appropriate evidence and supporting documentation to aiagcertification@aiag.org . Once it has been received it will be reviewed for acceptance into the course. Please see below for further details on the prerequisites:

Prerequisite for Participation:

  1. Completed VDA 6.3 Application Form for Exam
  2. Proof of training VDA 6.3
    • Copy of your certificate of qualification of the training "VDA 6.3 - Qualification as Process Auditor" (If this is your first time attending this training AIAG understands that you will not have this certificate yet. This is achieved on your 4th day of training).
  3. Qualification requirements
    1. Proof of 3-day auditor qualification based on DIN EN ISO 19011
      AND
    2. Proof of knowledge of the Automotive Core Tools.
      To meet this requirement, you must complete one of the following and provide your supporting documents as proof:
      1. Successfully complete the Automotive Core Tools for Process and System Auditors (ID 417) course and provide the certificate you receive for the training.
        OR
      2. Provide your certificate or attendance/completion for a two-day (at minimum) training about Automotive Core Tools by another training provider (or AIAG) AND successfully pass the online Automotive Core Tools Quiz offered by VDA QMC.
        *Please note that if the Automotive Core Tools Quiz offered by VDA QMC is not passed ID 417 must be completed.
  4. Proof of at least 5 years industrial experience including at least two (2) years in quality management in the form of a resume/CV.

  • Employees from QM departments who perform process audits in their own organization (internally)
  • Employees from QM departments who perform process audits in the supply chain (externally)
  • External auditors (deployed as service providers)

Upon successful completion of the training attendees will:

  • Be familiar with the general requirements and fundamental principles of VDA 6.3 (2023)
  • Know how to use and perform the risk analysis in a technically correct manner. Be able to apply the questionnaire in practice using the process elements (P1-P7)
  • Know how to identify the relevant risks using the process audit, to point out potentials and ensure a reliable evaluation
  • Be able to obtain and explain a comparable result on the basis of the evaluation system and perform process audits both internally and at suppliers' locations independently and in a technically correct manner
  • Achieve VDA 6.3 Process Auditor certification through the final exam
