Environmental Sustainability

Automotive manufacturers and suppliers are collaborating in efforts to improve the environmental performance of their organizations. Environmental sustainability is the ability to maintain rates of renewable resource harvest, pollution creation, and nonrenewable resource depletion that can be continued indefinitely. To achieve this, the automotive industry must band together. The challenge and the opportunity is to develop a framework that can be utilized throughout the automotive industry at any level within the supply chain.

AIAG is promoting a unified approach to environmental sustainability in the automotive industry. They focus on metrics/measurements around greenhouse gases, water, and waste reduction, and adopting comprehensive sustainability practices. Key strategies include developing beneficial frameworks for supply chains and collaborating with other companies to create common metrics, which helps save time and money.
